How a walk works

The same structure on every walk, so this month’s report lines up against last month’s.

  1. Before you start

    Pick the pen

    Choose the farm, site, barn and pen, plus the animal group. Rumi Walk remembers your farms.

  2. In the barn

    Walk and talk

    “Pen three, about forty head, cud chewing looks pretty good, two cows lame on the back feet.” Snap photos or video as you go.

  3. When you finish

    Check the scores

    Rumi Walk scores each KPI from what you said and writes a summary. Slide any score that doesn’t match what you saw.

  4. Before you leave

    Share the report

    Email the PDF to the manager and owner, save it, or send it through any app on your phone.

Rumi Walk questions

Which dairy KPIs does Rumi Walk score?

Nine: heat stress, cud chewing, TMR particle distribution, manure score, locomotion, body condition score, metabolic incidence, forage audit and milking procedure. Each gets a green, yellow or red status and rolls into an overall farm health score out of 10. You can adjust any score before you share the report.

Does Rumi Walk work without cell signal in the barn?

Yes. Rumi Walk records your walk, photos and video with no signal at all and syncs when the phone is back online. Worker reports in Rumi Daily also wait on the phone and send themselves once there is a connection.

Can a vet or nutritionist share findings with the farm team?

Yes. A Rumi Walk report goes out as a PDF by email, or through any app on the phone. A direct link that drops a short summary of each walk into the farm’s Rumi Daily digest is in development.

Which phones does Rumi work on?

Both apps run on iPhone and Android. Rumi Daily also works through WhatsApp, so a worker can report from any phone that has it.

What does Rumi cost?

Rumi Daily is free during the pilot. Rumi Walk is in beta and has a free plan that covers up to 50 walks a month while the beta runs.
